According to a recent report published by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), nationwide home showings were down 24% from this time last year. The steepest decline was seen in the northeastern states where showings dropped 55% from May 2021.

The data was compiled by NAR using information taken from Sentrilock lockboxes. These lockboxes are used by real estate agents listing and showing homes. According to the report,

NE Region showings decreased y/y in May. NE region showings decreased by – 55% year-over-year. The Northeast totaled 6,865 showings in May. Northeast Region Sentrilock cards increased to 3,384. Showings per card fell to 2.0. Year-over-year percent change in showings per card increased 45%.

Here in Hampden County we saw a 6% increase (year-over-year) in new home listings with 685 houses added to the market in May. However, overall sales decreased by 12% with just 379 properties closing last month.
