🏛 When and How Is a Defendant Transported from Jail to Court?

In Massachusetts, an incarcerated defendant is not automatically transported from jail to court for every hearing. Instead, the defendant’s attorney must file a written motion with the court requesting the transportation. This usually is not done unless there’s a possibility that the case may be resolved at the upcoming hearing.
