Almost every out-of-court settlement involves a release agreement. These agreements vary in length but they all contain similar terms. Both sides agree to release any and all legal claims against each other in exchange for the settlement money. The payment cannot be construed as an admission of liability. Finally, both sides agree to never disclose the terms of the agreement or the amount of the settlement.
