Today in Boston’s federal court, a Westfield woman pleaded guilty to making a false bomb threat to the Boston Children’s Hospital where patients as young as 3 can receive “gender-affirmation care.”

According to a press release from the U.S. District Attorney’s Office, the woman called the hospital on August 30, 2022 and stated “There is a bomb on the way to the hospital. You better evacuate everybody, you sickos.”

Although no bomb existed, the hospital and the surrounding area were placed on lockdown while first responders investigated.

Using cell-tower data and subscriber information, the police were able to track the call to the defendant’s phone in Westfield.

Police questioned the defendant and she admitted to making the threat but assured officers that she had no intention of actually bombing the hospital.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 19, 2024.
