Yesterday the Foxborough police department issued a statement about a woman who allegedly assaulted two referees at a high school hockey game at Foxborough Sports Center.
The incident took place on January 4 after Mansfield High School played Taunton High School. According to a press release from the National Ice Hockey Officials Association,
Following the game, a woman is seen on video waiting for over five (5) minutes for the officials to exit the ice surface, at one point stepping onto the ice surface. The woman later physically confronted the officials as they retreated, preventing the officials from continuing to the locker room.
The same press release notes that, earlier in the evening, the referees ejected a Taunton man from the arena for his “verbal abuse.”
Police interviewed witnesses and obtained footage of the spat between the unnamed woman and the retreating referees. Based on the investigation, the woman will be summoned to appear at Wrentham District Court where she will face “several” unspecified criminal charges.
