State Trooper Joseph Ward, 25, was arraigned on January 28 in Plymouth District Court.

He’s charged with

  • kidnapping,
  • witness intimidation,
  • domestic assault and battery, and
  • assault with a dangerous weapon

According to boston.com, Ward’s ex-girlfriend claims that he became “erratic” during a recent argument.

During the spat, Ward allegedly holstered a load gun onto his belt and approached the woman with knives in his hands.

The woman claims that she ran from their apartment, but Ward tackled her in the hallway and dragged her back.

Eventually a third party intervened and Ward was taken into custody.

At arraignment the prosecution filed a motion to have Ward deemed “dangerous” and held without the right to bail.

That motion was heard today.

Although the judge declined to hold Ward during the pendency of the case, he did impose conditions of release.

Those conditions include

  • a GPS monitor with the exclusion zone of Plymouth and Barnstable County,
  • an order to stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim, and
  • a prohibition on owning or possession firearms

Ward’s next hearing is scheduled for April 16.
