Earlier this year an IT director at the New England School of Law allegedly bought $68k of music equipment with the school’s Amazon Account.
That’s chump change compared to the $223,373 allegedly stolen by Dartmouth College’s former newspaper manager Nicole Chambers.
According to a blog post by the New Hampshire District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Chambers had unrestricted access to the newspaper’s bank account, PayPal and Venmo accounts, and debit card.
She misused the funds to travel throughout the U.S. and Caribbean, purchase luxury items, and pay for her husband’s pending court case in Newport, Rhode Island.
In April of this year, Chambers pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. Today a federal district court judge sentenced her to 15 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release.
