
Joshua Roush, 46, of Malden has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his roommate with a samurai sword. The sentence comes after a 7-day trial in Middlesex Superior Court.
According to officials, Joshua attacked his roommate, 34-year-old Brian McDonald, after a heated argument at their apartment on Presley Street. The incident occurred on August 15, 2021. Police were called to the scene by witnesses. When police arrived they observed Brian lying on the ground with “obvious and severe injuries.”
On October 18, 2024 the jury found Joshua guilty of first degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison by a superior court judge on three days later.
