At least three-quarters of Americans are overweight, according to The New York Times.
And academic research from The Lancet (Britain’s highly reputable medical journal) found that America is the most obese nation on Earth.
But most of us don’t need studies and data to see that Americans are fat. The obesity epidemic is glaringly obvious.
Nevertheless, Governor Healey is taking executive action to protect the “millions of hungry and food insecure” SNAP recipients being target by our current regime.
These poor people are facing President Trump’s dastardly restrictions on federal food subsidies.
According to Governor Healey, President Trump is
imposing new and burdensome eligibility requirements, and fundamentally altering its cost-sharing partnership with the states.
To counter these “burdensome eligibility requirements” Healey has signed Executive Order No. 643 creating the Anti-Hunger Task Force.
The task force’s objectives are as follows:
- Providing recommendations for mitigating the direct and indirect impacts of federal SNAP cuts and program changes to Massachusetts;
- Initiating and deepening collaboration among public, private, and nonprofit sectors for alleviating hunger and food insecurity, with a specific focus on those communities and populations most impacted by federal action;
- Exploring opportunities for partnership and collaboration across northeastern states, including New England and New York;
- Providing recommendations for long-term, sustainable solutions for mitigating hunger and food insecurity, preserving food systems, and bolstering local economies through cross-cutting initiatives, including public-private partnerships, coordinated state responses, and data-driven reforms to policies and practices.
This task force, we hope, will help ensure America’s top ranking in world obesity polls.
