Brian Walshe, who’s accused of murdering and dismembering his wife, has received $6,000 in public funds to hire a media expert to assist with his case.
Walshe’s media expert is reportedly Scott Farmelant of Boston Strategic Communications.
When approving the funds, the judge wrote,
Defendant has now provided a Statement of Qualifications/CV for Mr. Farmelant, his desired media expert, and counsel avers by affidavit that Mr. Farmelant “expects the work to take between 30-40 hours.” Unfortunately, the court has no information as to what work Mr. Farmelant intends to do.
Walshe’s lawyers filed a written answer to the judge’s question regarding Farmelant’s role. However, that document is under seal.
Nevertheless, Boston 25 reports that Walshe’s “lawyers are researching media coverage of his case and that research could be used to request a change of venue.”
According to Boston 25,
Farmelant is compiling all local and national publicity related to the case since Ana Walshe was reported missing in January 2023.
Walshe’s lawyers have not responded to Boston 25. Nor have they filed a motion to move the trial’s venue.
Walshe’s next hearing is on September 25 and no trial date has been set.
