Late last week, a Worcester District Court jury convicted former councilor Etel Haxhiaj of assault and battery against a police officer.
According to prosecutors, Haxhiaj was present while ICE agents were making an arrest in Worcester on May 8, 2025.
It’s alleged that a Worcester police officer attempted to move Haxhiaj away from the ICE agents.
While doing so, Haxhiaj allegedly shoved the officer.
The incident was captured on the officer’s body wore camera.
After the jury’s verdict, the judge sentenced Haxhiaj to six months of probation and 40 hours of community service.
