Shannon Wilson, 44, was arraigned in Plymouth Superior Court yesterday.
She’s charged with forgery and other similar crimes after she allegedly faked a brain-cancer diagnosis and her own death to avoid court proceedings.
Shannon had two open criminal cases in district court. One case charged Shannon with shoplifting. The other case was an OUI second offense.
Shannon allegedly told the court, through her attorney, that she was undergoing treatment for cancer.
At a later date, the attorney provided the court with a document purporting to be Shannon’s death certificate.
According to prosecutors, “the document was grainy, blurred, and partially cropped.”
The DA’s office investigated Shannon’s supposed death and her cancer claims.
Investigators say that they found no evidence that Shannon received medical treatment for cancer.
A superior court judge set her bail $50,000. Her next court appearance is on May 19.
